PAVI Students and Instructors Participate in David Suzuki Foundation's "Playlist for the Planet"

The David Suzuki Foundation, Universal Music and 30 Canadian Artists banded together to release the album ‘Playlist for the Planet’.  Proceeds from the Playlist for the Planet go to the David Suzuki Foundation.

Two songs on the Playlist, Raffi’s ‘SUSTAINAbility’ and Jesse Farrell’s ‘Filthy Habits’ were recorded at PAVI’s Studios.

‘Filthy Habits’ was recorded by PAVI students (in order from left to right) Jessica Jones, Nathan Turner, and Tim Watkins.

‘SUSTAINAbility’ was recorded by PAVI Instructor Supervisor Ken Burke and assisted by PAVI graduate Kris Siegers.

Hello Friends,

Sorry for the mass e-mail. I have been working on this project on and off for close to a year, and I’d like you to know about it.
It’s called David Suzuki’s Playlist for the Planet, and it features 30 Canadian environmentally themed songs.

It’s available on iTunes www.bit.ly/Planet-iTunes and at music stores across Canada. It’s a good little Earth Day soundtrack.

There’s more about it at www.davidsuzuki.org/playlist and there’s a little promo video at: http://bit.ly/playlist_video
It’s also going to be featured on Vinyl Tap on CBC next week around Earth Day. For showtimes see http://www.cbc.ca/vinyltap/

My favorite songs are from Danny Michel, k-os, D.O.A., Hayley Sales, David Myles, Tanya Tagaq and Todd Butler. There’s also bigger names like Bruce Cockburn, Randy Bachman, Gordon Lightfoot, Raffi, Rush, Great Big Sea, etc.

Some of the songs suck, but hey, you can’t win ‘em all. All the artists waived their royalties, so all proceeds go to the David Suzuki Foundation.

If you can spread the word a bit would be great!

Cheers

Panos
