Dan Swinimer of the band Jet Black Stare guest lectures

Producer, studio engineer, performer and songwriter Dan Swinimer stopped by PAVI to teach a class on Pro Tools production to the evening audio students on July 27th.  Dan is taking a break from touring with his band Jet Black Stare before starting on the road again in September.

Quoting Dan, "PAVI's curriculum is great - it covers everything in an easy to understand way but what struck me the most about my experience as guest lecturer at PAVI, was their encouragement to go "outside the box".  In my experience, creating music LIVES outside the box, and if you aren't prepared, you won't succeed. Very few schools get this. It's like getting a few years experience along with your diploma, and that is invaluable."

Jet Black Stare's first debut album "In This Life" with Island/Def Jam featured the single "Ready to Roll" which peaked at 27 on Billboards Active Rock Charts and 3 on their heatseeking charts for bands to ' look out for. ' It was also featured in WWE, XBOX, NASCAR, NBC, CBS, CBC, TCN, NBA, NHL, NFL and CTV. The song " I'm Breathing " got some time on the popular US TV show Sons of Anarchy as well.

Jet Black Stare have toured with bands like 3 Doors Down, Staind, Hinder, Puddle of Mudd, Shine Down, Theory of a Deadman and many more. Since then they have been working hard in the studio and will be releasing a new single " Better Off Being Alone " this summer. JBS will be playing the Imagine Festival this September in Toronto Canada. World press release on this event coming out soon.
